Collective Bargaining

We regularly serve as lead negotiators and advisors in collective bargaining. We have negotiated on behalf of individual employers and multi-employer bargaining associations in a wide array of industries, including manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, hospitality, and construction. Our goal is to help you achieve your operational and financial goals and maintain your competitive advantage.

Job Actions

We know how to deal successfully with strikes, picketing, boycotts, corporate campaigns, lockouts, work slowdowns, and other job actions by employees and unions.

We have experience appearing in federal and state courts to obtain orders enjoining strikes in breach of collective bargaining agreements, or to prevent violence, property damage, and disruption of operations.

Litigation

We pursue or defend against litigation as part of an overall strategy to accomplish your labor relations goals. Such litigation includes injunction actions, breach-of-contract actions, ERISA claims for contributions and benefits, and arbitration proceedings.

National Labor Relations Board Representation

We represent employers in NLRB proceedings arising from unfair labor practice charges, representation matters, secondary boycotts, union de-authorization and de-certifications, handbilling, picketing, and unit clarifications.

Strategic Counseling and Planning

We guide unionized and union-free employers through labor relations issues associated with all types of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy proceedings, successorship, pension plan withdrawal liability issues, shutdowns, layoffs, work transfers, outsourcing, and subcontractor issues. We also advise on and oversee public relations and corporate campaigns. We have experience in successfully addressing some of the largest corporate campaigns.

Multi-Employer Benefit Plans

We understand the issues associated with pension and welfare benefit plan coverage of unionized employees. We regularly advise employers – and represent them in federal court – concerning their contribution and withdrawal liability obligations arising under collective-bargaining agreements, the Taft-Hartley Act, and the Multi-employer Pension Plan Amendments Act.
